Sr. Jacqueline Ayotte, DW, of St. Agatha, Maine, recently conducted research on the history of different religious orders that served in the St. John Valley, offering assistance in the education or medical fields. Her interest was sparked during a church history course at the Christian Life Center in Frenchville, where she explored the origins and presence of various religious communities in the parishes of the area.

She said, " I became very interested and found it intriguing that in every parish in the St. John Valley, there was a different religious community." Her goal then became to document their origins and how they arrived in the parishes.

Although she claims her research is limited, we have found it to be a treasure of information.
