St. Mary's Church Reunion Picnic at OLPH

Distance will not get in the way of friendship for Sisters and Islip parishioners —

Friends from St. Mary’s church in Islip held a reunion picnic at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Convent this Wednesday.

Some members from St. Mary’s brought a picnic lunch to share with the Sisters who were part of the Islip community and have since relocated to OLPH.

Sr. Evelyn Lamoureux shared that the group used to attend the 9 o’clock Mass at St. Mary’s and has decided to meet up at OLPH once a month following the Sisters' move to Sound Beach. The picnic was their second reunion so far, and they plan to get ice cream after Mass next month.

Sr. Evelyn said the friendships they made were the thing she missed most about the Islip community.

As these gatherings continue, it’s clear that true friendship endures across distance and time. The bonds formed in faith and fellowship remain a source of joy and support, reminding everyone that no matter where life leads, the spirit of friendship will always bring them back together.
