Sisters to Mark Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and 70th Anniversary of the Convent

June 27 marks a truly special occasion: the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the 70th anniversary of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Convent in Sound Beach, NY, founded by the Daughters of Wisdom. For seven decades, this cherished convent has offered a loving home for our aging sisters—a sanctuary where they continue their mission of prayer, compassion, and service. Each day, the chapel is filled with the uplifting presence of daily Mass and heartfelt prayers by our Sisters, who offer intercessions for the sick and suffering, making this community a beacon of hope and spiritual support for all who seek comfort.

For seventy years, this sacred home has been a place of grace, love, and transformation. In 1960, the community lovingly expanded with a new wing, opening its doors to welcome more retired Sisters. Over the decades, countless improvements have reflected the care and devotion poured into every corner. Most recently, a three-level wing and renovated nurses’ station were added, ensuring comfort and dignity for all who reside here. The Sisters have been blessed by the warm embrace of community groups and friends, whose visits bring joy, laughter, and cherished gifts—like fresh flowers brightening the chapel. Generosity abounds in memorial trees, benches, a radiant stained-glass window, an accessible elevator, and a renewed beach bulkhead—all signs of enduring love and support for this beloved home.
