2025 Wisdom Grant Recipients Selected

Since 2012, the Daughters of Wisdom Mission Grant has been awarded to projects that strive to alleviate injustice in areas that impact women, children, the marginalized, and the environment. Sr. Evelyn Eckhardt, Sr. Lucy Clynes, Sr. Marie Chiodo, Sr. Evelyn Lamoureux, and Sr. Ann Gray all recommended the following organizations for 2025 grants. 

The 2025 Wisdom Grant recipients are:

  • The De La Salle School

  • ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Ride for Life

  • Mission House, Inc.

  • Harmony Healthcare Long Island

  • Maryhaven Center of Hope, Inc.

  • Long Island Immigration Clinic

$5,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to Just Faith Ministries

Just Faith Ministries inspires action for justice by holding small group programs that focus on peace, racial equality, and sustainability. The Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads division holds both virtual and in-person programs and events centered on helping others through social change. 

$5,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to The De La Salle School

The De La Salle School is rooted in the Lasallian tradition of education. They’re dedicated to providing faith-based education that nurtures personal growth, academic excellence, and social responsibility in young men in grades 5-8. De La Salle’s mission is to provide quality education to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Their programs include Academics, Academic Intervention Services, a Graduate Support Program, Social-Emotional Learning, Technology, and an After-School Program. 

$10,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Ride for Life 

Founded in 1997, ALS Ride for Life raises funds and awareness for those living with ALS. They hold an annual event where people with ALS (pALS) ride their power wheelchairs along highways in Long Island and Manhattan every May. They also have multiple programs and grants dedicated to helping those with ALS and their families. 

$10,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to Mission House, Inc. 

Mission House’s goal is to help people affected by homelessness back into self-sufficient lives. They primarily serve adult men and women, but also collaborate with community partners to support families. Their programs include a Crisis Care Program, which offers hot showers, a fresh change of clothes, phone usage for program clients, and one-on-one case management. The Mission House Clinic provides health care services to residents who are uninsured. 

$15,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to Harmony Healthcare Long Island

Harmony Healthcare provides healthcare for Long Island residents. Their team of doctors and nurses works out of six locations and offers care in adult/family medicine, dental, pediatrics, specialty services, women’s health, and WIC. Healthcare advocates worked for over two decades to provide care to underserved communities in Nassau County, and in 2009, they were named the first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the county.

$15,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to Maryhaven Center of Hope, Inc.

Maryhaven was founded in 1929 with the assistance of the Daughters of Wisdom, who initially worked with forty children with disabilities. Well-trained caregivers have since taken over Maryhaven’s programs and work to enrich the lives of those with special needs. Their main services include a Community Residential Program, Day Habilitation Programs, and the Integrated Business Center, where people living with disabilities work alongside non-disabled employees.

$15,000 Wisdom Fund Grant to Long Island Immigration Clinic

The Long Island Immigration Clinic (LIIC) is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph. They advocate for immigrants seeking to obtain legal status in the US. Recognized and accredited by the Department of Justice, they help individuals represent themselves in immigration court, fill out asylum applications and employment work authorization forms, and identify ways to obtain legal relief from deportation and detention.
